There is no need to worry about removing pine oil from pine furniture.
There is no need to worry about removing pine oil from pine furniture.
Now many consumers choose to buy pine furniture, because pine is designated as environmentally friendly furniture by the United Nations Ministry of Humanities and Humanities. Its panel disassembly design makes transportation and installation convenient. However, in the process of using pine furniture, many consumers often encounter pine oil (turpentine) remaining in the pine wood or seeping out of the surface, which not only makes it difficult to paint, but also affects the appearance and use effect. Now I will introduce to you a few methods that can easily remove pine oil.
1. Alkaline washing method
Use 8%~10% sodium carbonate (edible alkali surface) aqueous solution, or 4%~6% caustic soda solution, to clean the pine oil part of the pine wood, so that the pine oil is saponified (oil and alkali react to become soap and glycerin) , then use a sponge or brush dipped in hot water (40~50°C) to scrub and rinse.
2. Rinsing method
Add 20 grams of bleaching powder to 0.5 kg of warm water to dissolve it. Use this solution to repeatedly paint the pine oily parts of the pine wood until it turns slightly white, and then rinse with water.
3. Eradication
For parts where there is a lot of pine oil seepage, you can use a spatula to remove the part, and then smooth it with mud. No matter which method is used, it is necessary to scrub with ethanol (alcohol) or apply a layer of shellac varnish to prevent the pine oil that has not been removed from the pine wood from seeping out and affecting the paint film.
4. Dissolution method
Dissolve with 25% acetone aqueous solution, and scrub with a mixture of 20% acetone aqueous solution and a small amount of alkali.
