How to solve the burr in furniture
After the raw wood of our furniture is exposed to water, the water seeps in along the wood fiber tubes and the microscopic gaps in the wood grain, causing it to expand and protrude from the surface of the wood, which cannot be restored after drying. Therefore, after the wood is painted with water-based paint, there will be wood grain protrusions, particles, and burrs. So, with these glitches, how do we fix them? Today, let's take a look together.

1. Seal the wood surface with wax-free shellac paint. This method is better than the water-wet method. In addition to preventing graining and long burrs when applying water-based paint, it can also increase the layering of the wood. However, due to the color of the shellac itself, it tends to impart a light amber tinge to the wood. The back cover of shellac paint is very useful for old paint surfaces and wood surfaces that may have been polluted by grease, mold release agents, and organic silicon compounds. It can prevent construction defects such as shrinkage cavities and fish eyes when applying water-based paint.

During the painting process, if you find that the painted surface, especially the old paint surface, has shrinkage cavities and fish eyes after painting, you should wipe off the painted water-based paint, seal the back with dewaxed shellac paint after polishing, and then apply water-based paint. paint. Shellac is an alcoholic solution of shellac that can be applied by brushing or wiping. After the back cover, polish it with 400# or more sandpaper, and then wipe the polished surface with alcohol or a damp cloth, which can increase the adhesion of the topcoat.

2. Wipe the wood surface to be coated with a wet cloth that can squeeze out water, so that the wood surface is fully wetted, and after drying, sand off the formed burrs and particles with fine sandpaper. Then apply a primer and lightly sand it with 400# sandpaper after it dries. For porous wood, two coats of primer should be applied before sanding. At this time, the first coat of primer should be diluted with 5% to 10% water before use.
